Harry Redknapp's 'I'm a Celeb' Best Bits & Why We Love Him

With the final of this year's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here airing tonight, it would seem that the unlikely breakout star of the series is Mr Harry Redknapp, football coach extraordinaire and unlikely comic hero. Who would have known how witty, charming, friendly and entertaining he would be? We all love an underdog and Harry has had us all laughing and cheering every night without fail. So here's his Top 10 best bits and things we love about Harry so far:

10. Harry Vs Trials

From getting whipped by a Perenti lizard to holding bugs in his mouth to gently trying to reassure rats crawling all over him, Harry is one of the most entertaining trial participants of this year's line-up. Harry also coined one of the most iconic one-liners of the series when asked to talk to a Yabby being placed in Noel Edmond's mouth. When told to 'talk to it', Harry exclaimed' Yabba Dabba Do!', cracking up Dec and Holly, the other campmates and audiences. He always powered through and did incredibly well, even when faced with his worst nightmare: rats.

9. Jam Roly-Poly

The second most talked-about love story of this season: Harry Redknapp and Jam Roly-Poly pudding. On his fourth day in the jungle, Redknapp exclaimed 'oh what I would give for a f****** jam roly-poly pudding'. After a devastating Dingo Dollar failure, it seemed Harry would never be reunited with his true love. However, during the banquet, we saw the most heartwarming moment British TV has seen in years - the light inside Harry Redknapp's eyes when he saw that dessert on the table. He then explained that his Nan used to make it and that it was “a taste of my childhood really“, saying that it “brings back good memories, you know?”. So beautifully wholesome.

8. Things Harry has never heard of

There have been many revelations from Harry that made audiences feel he might be living in the Stone Age. From revealing during the Dreaded Dash trial that he had never done a jigsaw puzzle to not knowing what Toy Story is as he hadn't been to a cinema since the 1960's, Harry's confusion charmed us over and over again. He also thought that a Quail was a fish and continually complained at the food the celebrities had won (if he'd ever heard of it) - before tucking in every night, claiming it was “really nice, actually“. He hadn't even seen the show beforehand, which is brilliant in itself.

7. Camp Friendships

One of the most truly captivating parts of Harry in the Jungle was the bond between him and the other campmates. A Father figure of the Camp, almost every celebrity who left camp said that they would miss Harry the most and wanted him to win. His ability to connect with younger contestants such as Malique and Emily, such as learning their slang and being protective of them, was so heartwarming to watch. Harry himself said ”I thought it was going to be difficult, but I’ve felt so at home and loved every minute for being around you all, I want you to thank you for making me feel welcome in your world of showbiz, even thought I don’t know what you’re going on about half the time. I love you all”. It seems that both the campmates and the nation have truly been won over by the star's charm.

6. His one-liners

Harry's one-liners have been the best comic relief of the series, from his blunt moment after the camp were sad that Malique left (”Well, no-one's died”) to his review of Fleur's music (”I like Fleur's song. I won't be buying it but I liked it”). Other favourites include Harry convincing Rita that he'd been in the SAS and survived on no food for a week and stating that he thought there would be a secret burger van behind the camp that they would go to in between filming. Comedy gold.

5. His dance moves

One of the best moments of the series came when Fleur and Sair decided to teach Harry how to do the Floss dance, with Harry exclaiming ”my hips are going one way and my arms are going another!”. Another highlight was Harry learning how to grind. Yet another thing British audiences thought (or maybe hoped) we would never see - but Harry showed once again that he was game for anything and cracked us up once again.

4. MC Hazza and his Roadman Slang

Harry Redknapp learning how to call his wife a 'peng ting' on TV is something that none of us dreamed we would ever see. Learning slang from Malique and Fleur, Harry responded with 'Peng ting? She'll think I've been painting'. This then developed into Harry rapping the now infamous words 'Peng ting called Sandra, wanna jump in my Range Rover?' and so MC Hazza was born. His rap voice was hilarious, also.

3. Storytime with Harry

The UK may not all be able to agree on Brexit but one thing we can agree on is that Harry Redknapp has the best stories ever. They're hilarious, ridiculous and so well told that I challenge anybody not to be instantly captivated. From the time he accidentally ran over his wife to describing how they met 54 years ago, Harry's stories were endless. On meeting Sandra, he said “I look back on it now and think Sandra must have seen us both coming over and thought ‘I hope I ain’t got him’ (referring to himself)… and she went for me. 54 years later we’re still going strong. And Macca ended up as an undertaker so really Sandra had the better deal in the long term“. We were in stitches when he told us about not recognising Prince Harry and calling him 'mate' and chuckled when he nominated himself to empty the Dunny (makeshift toilet-bucket) by revealing that he has no sense of smell. What a legend.

2. The Doll's House

One of my favourite moments of this year's I'm A Celebrity, this Dingo Dollar challenge had me in fits of laughter. Stuck inside a dingy doll's house full of bugs (and surprise pigeons), Emily, John and Harry had to find named dolls around the room and it made for amazing viewing. After being attacked by a pigeon, Harry said “he's landed on me head... he's shit on me head!“. Harry trying to find the doll 'Daisy' was also hysterical as he hunted through a chest for the doll, found her and then re-lost her. It was honestly brilliant - if you missed this one, watch it because it's so worth it.

1. Sandra & Harry - A Love Story

Truly the sweetest marriage I have ever witnessed, Harry talked endlessly about his wife, Sandra. The internet exploded with emotional tweets about the couple after Harry revealed that “She’s my life, you know?” he said, revealing he thinks he loves Sandra “too much” as he ”doesn’t know what he’d do without her“, saying ”we just get on so well. I can never wait to see her.” When going down to the waterfall shower with the young girls, Harry also lingered behind and turned his back, claiming that Sandra is the only woman he ever wants to see naked. True love does exist guys, and it's Harry and Sandra. I cried my eyes out when Sandra came to the camp and everybody's reactions to finally meeting the legendary Sandra were so touching. 10/10 relationship goals - be more Harry and Sandra, guys.

I hope you enjoyed some of the best bits of Harry Redknapp - I know I had fun reliving all of his hilarity. With the final tonight, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Harry is crowned King of the Jungle - if you agree with me, get voting! All three of the remaining finalists have done amazingly well and this series has been a joy to watch. I'm already counting down the days until the next series. Go on MC Hazza!
